Site assessments determine the nature, extent and magnitude of soil and groundwater contamination (if any), and evaluate the implications of any site 
contamination.
Site assessments are not only performed in response to pollution events, they are commonly performed prior to purchasing a property (pre-acquisition site assessment) or releasing a property (relinquishment site assessment).
Assessments are performed to comply in full with the requirements of the respective state environmental agencies, the National Environment Protection (Assessment of Site Contamination) Measure (NEPM) and each local regulatory jurisdiction.
Where a client has specific requirements that differ from the focus of the NEPM, it is possible to develop an enhanced or reduced brief. International projects consider the local regulatory requirements.
OTEK routinely undertakes Environmental Site Assessments at sites where the following contaminants maybe present:
- Hydrocarbons (fuels, solvents and oils)
- Heavy Metals including hexavalent chromium
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)
- Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- Chlorinated and brominated compounds
- Asbestos
- Acid Sulphate Soils
- Pesticides
- Cyanides and
- Phenols
Where necessary, more specialized or targeted investigations of soil or groundwater contamination can be provided. 
OTEK has access to a diverse range of drilling equipment. This ensures that in all cases the most appropriate device for each individual assignment is used.
This includes hollow flight and percussion drill rigs, backhoes and excavators, Geoprobes and manual augering equipment.
Supporting the field investigations is a team of skilled and experienced hydrogeologists and environmental scientists and engineers who use state-of-the-art computational tools and models to map contaminant plumes and predict the fate and transport of contamination.
Our staff are project management trained, to ensure projects run smoothly, are well communicated, and well planned.
